try not to dye, or use straightnersor blow dryers. use a natural boar bristle brush. eat healthy foods with loads of protein and vitamins. dont brush your hair while wet and if you do use a wide tooth comb. try not to wash your hair too much and if you do make sure you use natural products. also getting hair trimmed whenever you start to get split ends or if it starts to get scraggly. remember that the less chemicals in your hair the healthier it will be.

Healthy Diet, Exercise, lots of Water.
Use a shampoo and conditioner apropriate for your hair type.
Don"t color or perm your hair, and get conditioning treatments every month.
Your weight divided in two, then divided by eight= how many glasses of water you should be drinking every day.

Hi, If possible do not wash hair everyday this causes you to loose essential oils. Also when you do wash focus mainly on root area, the rest of the hair on you hair is considered "old" hair and is much more fragile and dry. Never brush when wet and apply a leave in conditioner ever time you wash. Also to much brushing damages hair. Try products from Toni and Guy they are awesome! A little expensive but worth it!

I have received MANY compliments on my hair and I attribute it to the way I take care of it. When I was a junior many girls my age were into straightening their hair and would blowdry almost every single day. Heat is NOT good for your hair. Their hair ended up being dry, frizzy, and if you touched it it just felt gross. This is what I do. I wash my hair with shampoo and conditioner every other day. If I'm not washing my hair that day then I just put it up so it doesn't get wet. This helps your hair accumulate it's natural oils without it being disgusting and it helps your hair have it's natural shine and beauty. I use shampoos and conditioners made for hair like mine. For example I have straight to slightly wavy thick blonde hair. I make sure I get shampoos like Garnier Fructis, Dove, Blonde, The New Herbal Essense Collection (these are great because they are focused on your type of hair), Sheer (Blonde, Brunette ect.), Thermasilk. I personally use all of these shampoos and conditioners. I mix and match. Just because you are using Herbal Essenses shampoo does not mean you have to use their conditioner. I actually use Garnier Fructis conditioner as a combination right now. I follow the directions. I put the conditioner from root to tip, meaning getting it to the roots. If it seems like the combination isn't working then switch to another shampoo. It's like if you had to eat nachos every single day, you'd want a change at some point. Also do NOT towel dry your hair by rubbing, this is horrible for it. take some hair with the towel and squeeze, don't pull. Only use a comb and spray on hair conditioner to comb wet hair, or else it breaks. And try as much as possible to not blowdry or straighten your hair, the heat damages it. One last thing and this is up to you, but dying your hair damages it. Sorry to say, but you are putting harsh chemicals INTO your hair, and you are doing it almost every 6 weeks! Seriously everyone's hair matches their skin perfectly, it's supposed to be that way. I have NEVER dyed my hair and I get SO many compliments for it. This is because I'm proud of my hair and willing to put up four bucks each for great shampoos and conditioners. When you are willing to take good care of your hair it looks amazing! It doesn't matter what color it is.

Do not feel bad about giving your scalp a good scrub. It stimulate blood flow to the hair follicle and promate healthier hair. You can't prevent spilt ends...it's inevitable. However, you can keep them under control with regular trims.
Start at the hairline and work your way to the nape of the neck. Apply enough pressure with the pads of your fingers or your nails...whatever feels best to you.
Professional products are always best as the don't buildup on the hair as fast and hey are formulated to build strength and elasticity within the hairshaft.
There are 2 important things to remember when you're conditioning....
1. Squeeze the excess water out of your hair before you apply the conditioner. Your hair is like a sponge. If you put a soaking wet sponge on water....it won't do anything because it's full of water. If your hair is full of water....the conditioner will go down the drain. If you put a damp sponge on water....it soaks the water up. The same thing happens with damp hair...the conditioner will go INTO the hairshaft.
2. Rinse the conditioner with lukewarm water. Luke warm to your hands...it will feel slightly cool on your head. If you use very hot water...you will open the cuticle layer and flush out all the conditiner you just put in...back down the drain. Luke warm water will rinse the excess off the outside of the hairshaft....but the inside will retain the what you put in.
Apply a thermal proctectant to the hair prior to blowdrying.
Finally finish with a moisturizing leave-in conditoner. This can be applied to wet or dry hair.
Some suggestions for product:
Loma
Hydrating Shampoo
Hydrating Conditoner
Pearitin Serum
Paul Brown Hawaii
Booster ( Thermal protectant)
You can check with a professional about other lines sold in salons. They can tell you what would be best for your hair.
The only way to get rid of split ends is to trim them.
If you're wanting healthier hair....then read the following..;)
Everyone's hair grows an average of an half an inch a month. If you wait more than 4-5 weeks to trim the split ends off....eventually they break off. When that happens you break off more than the half inch you grew.
However, if you trim the very ends every 4 weeks to prevent the breakage from occuring in the first place...you will keep most of that half inch you grow every month. Combine that with a salon shampoo and conditioner....and you can get 6 or more inches of healthy hair every year.
The biggest trick is finding that special hairdresser than will only trim the very tips. If you explain what you're doing...they should work with you of getting the length to where you want it. The other thing in growing your hair out is to always grow from style to style....not length to length. That way you're never going to be bored with your hair and be tempted to cut it off...;)
Always use professional products, they are formulated to not buildup on the hair as fast and to actually strengthen the hairshaft. There is no magic to getting long hair. You can try all the little concoctions people suggest....but the bottom line is you hair will grow from the root no matter what you do to the already grown hair. Once the hair has left the follicle...it's consider dead keratin protien. You just need to treat it right so it stays looking nice.

Well what is good is you should some days stay away from blow drying, straightening, curling, etc. It is sometimes good to give your hair a break from all the hot irons and especially products! Get some hot iron protective sprays from your salon so you don't fry your hair when you use irons.
Also I would recommend getting dove shampoo, I've tried alot and dove had to be my favorite. Don't always look for the smells, look for what will take care of your hair the best. Wash it twice, shampoo it once.
Hope this helped.
