It may not work, but i've used garnier fructis to bleach my hair. If you dyed you hair black, this wouldn't work, but if your hair is naturaaly black it should be fine. I got medium natural blonde for my hair, and it turned it light/medium brown, so id suggest a darker color. If you look on the side of the box, it shows typical results, and those are usually correct for whatever the beginning color was.

try loreal preference. it makes the colour come out even. it's great, i've got dark hair and i use that. no need for bleach or anything else.

On black hair it probably won't work. You would need to lighten it to a dark brown first so that you can see the red pigment. it's like using a red marker on a piece of black construction paper. it just won't show.
