i don't like using curling irons and the look i'm really looking for is kinda wavy or with loose large rings of curls. i dont' want tight curls. help?

I have the exact same problem. I started using hot rollers. I put them in and insured it with hairspray. it stays for while but I live in the humidity of houston and it never holds up well. BUTTTT...my mother has old perm rods from an at-home perm kit..

here's what I do: Take a section and starting at the root, coil your hair neatly around the rod and secure it in place.

Spritz your entire head with hairspray when you've your whole head done.

This gives tighter curls but since you have that straightening problem..the curls loosen out on their own.. and by the time youve gotten all the rods out..they should be looser curls.

if you go to the salon they'll probably have the type of perm you want .... if they don't than i don't know what to tell you ...

I have the same problem and I have been told by a hairdresser that even if I got a perm, it would probably just go straigh anyway...

Use lotsa hairspray and teasing and that will help to make it stay a little but if your like me your destined to have straight hair 4eva
