use straightening shampoo to protect your hair from being fried!

You could you some smoothing balm and blow dry your hair straight down because if you hang your head over and blow dry it like that-it gives it MORE volume

If you pull it half back, then straighten what's left, then let the rest of it down and straighten that, then it is a lot easier to get it all done. Also, since your hair is thick, put it on the highest heat setting available %26amp;%26amp; give it a few minutes to heat up.

I have the same problem. I bought this spray that is called Beyond the Zone Turn Up The Heat Flat Iron Protection. It works so good. Another tip is don't try to flat iron a lot of hair a once, use small sections of hair.

ALWAYS use a leave in conditioner and a smoothing serum. Both will protect your hair from the heat. ( some of those irons are close to 240 degrees) Also the smoothing serum locks out humidity allowing the style to last longer.

Also when using the iron section the hair off and only smooth a section anout an inch thick and 2 inches wide. This will ensure even smoothing.

Do overuse it, your hair will become very fired and/or resistant to to. It can also make yourself very dry and damaged if overused. Divide your hair it pieces while using it, you will get better results it you do it that way.

Always remember that your hair must be completely dry before using anything hot and electrical. You can buy a blow drier that has the brush and comb as an extension and use it gently to straighten the hair. After your hair is completely dry, take the iron with the comb edge and gently allow the hair to glide through the comb and twist the comb so that the back of the comb is actually smoothing the hair. Don't forget to use some type of hair creme to protect it during the pressing. Remember: it's the back of the comb that smooths the hair and the heat that allows it to relax the natural curl.

First make sure your hair is dry because it can break of if it is wet. Get one inch pieces on the top layer of your hair, then once the top layer is done try doing the middle layer. Once you have gotten as much as you can do, bend over and flip your hair upside down, this is the best way to get the bottom layer and back of your hair.

be sure to use a protecting product before putting the iron to your hair; most are spray ons that you use prior to putting the iron to your hair. also, be sure to iron in small sections, starting as close to the root as possible. use the coolest heat setting that works for your hair
