The most important thing you will need is a well shot portfolio. Get a good camera and take lots of pics. The pics need to be as clear and well lit as possible. Also show all types of work in your portfolio fantasy, injury simulation, old age, straight make-up and so on.

Practice practice then practice some more.

It's good to pick an area and really study it and be the absolute best at it. You should of course master all areas but having an expertise is help full.

Build a resume by working in local theater, doing disaster drills for hospitals anything make-up related.

Plan on spending lots of time in an area with lots of movies being made such as CA, or NC and SC.

Make a nice professional looking website with pics.

Show your works to various shops. Mail in pics to those that won't see you. Do not expect to get these pics back these are busy people. Don't be frustrated if it takes a long time to find work. It's a very hard job to do and get into.

Schools can be helpful. But self trained artists are highly valued in this creative enviroment.

How much would you tip hair colorist?

I recently got my color (single process with highlights) and a cut done.

I asked at the counter, how much would be appropriate for a tip, only because I've gone to much less expensive places before (that's why my hair was unhealthy). The receptionist said usually 20% and she figured it out to be $26 for the color and $6 for the style.

So, I paid that amount in tips. My question I guess is, is there a point where you do not consider 20%? In other words, do you do 20% until you get over, lets say $60 or $100? i think it was like $130 or something like that.

What do you do? and what is appropriate? Thanks.

Personally I dont like the look that comes with changing the natural color of you eyebrows but if you really want to...

Hydrogen Peroxide. You can get it in the stores, get 3% hydrogen peroxide. I used to put it into my hair before and kept on applying it and it became a brown. But if you continue that it will turn your hair to a lighter color and so on until you have white hair. All you have to do is before you go to bed every might just put some hydrogen peroxide in your hair or eyebrows and when it turns into the color you want it to be stop putting the hydrogen peroxide on it and it will stay that color...

You can also thin them out so that they are not as noticable...

There are also a few lightening creams out there talk to your hair dresser they should be able to help or recomend a product!

I know it sounds gross but the best way to hold curls is to have a couple days of hair oil in it. If you can't stand to go a day without shampooing you at least need to hold off on the conditioner. The conditioner is a curling irons enemy. There is also the Curling products in the store. I personally haven't tried any but they might be worth a shot.

If I use hot rollers in the morning, I can usually keep the ends curled under for the day; but if it's humid, I might as well forget about it. My hair has trouble keeping its curls too and it is wavy and I can scrunch it that much. What I do is, I shampoo and use a good conditioner to keep the hair healthy. Then I use a little styling mousse (golf ball size) and put it in the hair from roots to tip. Comb through it to distribute the mousse evenly. The blowdry the hair using a nozzle, it helps the hair be in control. Once its dry, spray you hair with fixing hair spray (extra-hold is good for this) then let you hair dry. After its dry, separate it in 5 sections (1 top, 1left side, 1 right side, 1 back-left side, 1back-right side). Take the time to curl your hair with the curling iron by taking 1inch large strands of hair. after you've curled it all, put hairspray everywhere again and let it dry. once its dry, run your fingers through your hair gently to relax the curls a bit and make them look natural. Thats how I do it all the time and it works great. Try this website trick, it might help you!

If you want a dramatic effect yes...otherwise the ends will just have a red tint to them which will be barely noticable...I'd go to a hairdresser and get it done though x

yes and you will have to keep on touching up the red till it takes. Reds are the hardest to keep in the hair and the hardest to completely get out of the hair (largest color molecule). Ask the stylist to give you a price for touch ups before you get it done because it could get super expensive. Good luck

you might want to try some black eyeliner [it can make your eyes look wider to an extent] and medium toned eyeshadow. I use dark brown masarca to make my eyelashes stick out a bit, but black is more natural looking and normal. Lipgloss works better than lipstick for olive skin-toned, and, depending on the thickness and complexion of your skin tone, medium blush or bronzers work well.

OMG don't do it. i have seen people do this so many times with the most disastrous results. you can't tell with a cap where the highlights will be, and you have roots instantly, and usually the highlights come out unevenly, and you wind up with yellow and orange ones. call a professional

A tip is a tip. You can give 0 or you can give 100. usually 15% is enough for a haristylist. For a 70 dollar haircut I give between 10 and 15.

Your son is likely experiencing that wonderful thing called genetic variation. If your doctor feels that there is nothing wrong with him nutritionally, it's not something to worry about as it's just a cosmetic feature.

maybe like a light lavender color. but nothing to showy. or something that matches your eyes, like a light-ish brown, or gold or something. try to have a kind of smoky eye. start off with a dark shade on the bottom of your eyelid. then the second darkest color until you have reached the areas above the end of your eyelid. then put the lightest shade above that. something like that. hope i helped. =]

from your skin tone, probably something around light or dark brown....i personally don't like the highlights that contrast in color too much (blond over dark brown....blond hair with black seeping through...), a more natural, overall color looks much better. dark blond/hazel may work for you, if you get it done well.

for eyeshadow, anything that brings out the eyes in a subtle way is fantastic. and if you're daring, try color contacts in a lighter shade, i think that looks amazing on people that have light or tan skintones.

Well I use lots of different colors. Like a lavender in the corner of my eye that fades into a deeper purple. Also I think lighter green and forest green together is really pretty. Check my picture because thats how i fade colors together for myself. I think you should stick with darker hair, if you wanted to add color dont just do highlights but add lowlights as well. Also all neutral colors like browns and tans. Also smokey eyes look great on everyone! and you dont have to use just black you can use any darker color you want.

i think since ur eyebrows are dark you should go dark b/c you don't want to look fakey andhave brown eyebrows and platinum hair...eww...lol so..i would go with a chesnut or your base color all over your head. ...and also i would use neutral colored eyshadows....hope this helps!

Since you have a darker skintone/hair colour, I actually suggest you dont go neutral which will just wash you out but rather go for a bright blue liner with a bit of shimmer. That kind of tropical blue. Rim around your eyes top and bottom; you can just go with this and do not eyeshadow. The bright colour will really pop against your brown eyes. Slick on some gloss and you're ready to go!

Can anyone give me real life situations or tips for having long thick hair?

I have been taking hair supplements for the past 3 years and here is what I have found.

GNC makes a tablet called "Ultra Nourishair" in formulas for men and women, the pills are taken daily, 2 pills a day. They are HUGE and very hard to swallow, if you have any trouble at all with large tablets, then I wouldn't recommend these. The 2 pills also contain only 1200 micrograms total of Biotin, which is the main supplement needed for hair to grow faster and stronger. You should try to get a minimum of 2500 micrograms of Biotin daily to improve hair's rate of growth and its condition. Even though I took these GNC pills for 4 months, I wouldn't recommend them because they are not the most high quality pills available.

ProCaps labs makes a great supplement called "Hair Skin and Nails" formula, here is the link for that

This is in capsule form and much easier to swallow. This company, ProCaps labs is also extremely reputable and carries pure and effective products.

I took GNC's Nourishair for four months, and supplemented it with extra Biotin tablets daily due to its low Biotin content. I took 2500 micrograms extra Biotin with the GNC pills.

The Procaps hair vites have 2500 micrograms of Biotin in them, and don't really require extra Biotin be taken, but I do take an additional 2500 micrograms of Biotin for a daily total of 5000 micrograms of Biotin.

My hair is growing in thick and dark and quite quickly. My hair used to be very slow growing, but all of these supplements have really made a difference.

The only way to really change the health of your hair is by taking supplements that work internally on the follicle where hair is made, any shampoos or oils or other topically applied things do nothing to change hair's structure, that can only happen with systemically provided support, which means supplements that you take internally.. Keep in mind, regardless of how many or how much you take of any supplement, hair is never going to grow at a "Jack and the beanstalk" type of rate, the most you can hope for is to improve the strength and health of each hair follicle and to see an incremental increase in the rate of its growth.

Well I kind of need to know if it is curly or straight or wavy. So you should add more details. But if it is frizzy I recomend John Frieda Frizz Ease Serum. If it gets poofy when it dries, I recomend a good moisturizing shampoo and conditioner (I like Finesse, Herbal Essences, Garnier Fructics, and Pantene Pro-V), never a 2-in-1. I also recomend SunSilk Anti-Poof 24/7 Creme.

For a hair cut I reccomend long layers and side swept bangs.

Don't judge me by my avatar. Try to stay away from hair dryers , hot curlers %26amp; irons ( curling %26amp; flat). Use only occasionally. Don't wash hair every day...every third day...so it will not dry out. Just get the right shampoo for your hair. It may require quite a few purchases. I tend to buy a smoothing shampoo to keep down the frizzies that will arise. Make sure you condition the ends don't worry so much about the scalp area there are natural oils there. Stay away from pony tail holders they will rip your hair apart. If you have to wear a pony use a large scrunchie. Hope it helps. My hair has been past shoulder blades 4eva.

Well, I was just wondering how old you are and how do you wear your hair now, is it all one length?When I was about 14 my hair was down to my waist , all one length, very thick and naturally curly.Can you imagine my night mare every morning? I would get up an hour early, just to blow dry my hair straight.My grandmother and mom, finally starting using thinning shears (they are a special pair of scissors, be careful if you use them)to thin it out, right at the nape of my neck, underneath.That was a great help.But as I got older I started wearing it , in long layers, it is shoulder lenghth now.Try to get some of the bulk and weight off and it will do better.At night you can sleep with it braided and it will be more managable in the morning.Hope this helps, good luck.

What works for me is to change the razor often and I exfoliate my legs before, use shaving cream and then when I get out of the shower I use baby oil.

I'll tell you this... I'm 5'11 and I used to go through razors ALL the time. I find I get a really smooth feel when I get them waxed. I don't have that much hair on my legs, but the waxing lasts a lot longer than shaving and eventually the hair grows in finer than before. But I've also considered the laser route. That would be great for arms, legs, underarms. (even the dreaded upper lip hair ugh!) Its expensive, but I think it would be worth at least looking into.

Always use a fresh razor, I think Venus Divine works really well. Exfoliate legs first and use a either a shaving cream, or Paul Mitchell's leave in conditioner works amazingly well as a shaving gel. Plus you can use it a moisturizer on your legs afterwards as well. For truly smooth legs, get them waxed. It sucks that you need to wait until you have at least a 1/4 inch of hair before you can get them done. But, the more often you wax them the softer and finer the hair will be when it grows back in.

Try exfoliating before you shave. I use a sea salt product from Bath and Body Works. Then I use a ladies shave cream and try a new double or triple blade razor. Works for me. Good Luck!

I had the same problem and a friend told me to try the razor "intuition". Buy the heads with shea butter. This is the best and easiest razer EVER. You dont need to use anything like shaving cream or soap because the head has it on there. Also, I use Jergens Hair Minimizing lotion afterwards. Two very good products. hope they work as well for you as for me.

Go to www.ambiance.com f you dont have a local store. Tere is a product called coochy, its kind of the consistency of lotion maybe a little thinner, you use it to shave instead of shaving cream. Its made for the bikini area but can be used on your legs. I LOVE IT!!! The longer you use it, the better it works to soften the hair that grows back, you dont get razor burn %26amp; it takes longer for the hair to grow back.

Use a cooler setting on your hairdryer and remember to use the flow of the air down the shaft of hair (from roots to ends) otherwise you're roughing up the cuticle of your hair, thus making it more frizzy.

haha. i have that thick hair problem too. i think what might help is to make it thinner (is that the term?). a barber can help with that. i think it's like cutting hair you wouldnt normally see really short so that when you tie it back, the long hairs that remain makes it looks as if you havent got so much hair. cant remember what it's called but have you tried a half pony tail? the type where you do to top of your hair and leave the bottom hanging loose around your shoulders. or dog ears. which are like the half ponytail but split in half left and right.

if you have any natural wave, then wet your hair, (put it in a wet bun if it doesnt have much wave), then use a gel to scrunch your hair, it actually looks really good.

I have thick hair, theres loads of hair styles you can do which look really nice. You can just strighten it and leave it down (might take a while depending on the length of hair), you couls curl it, do a quiff , or my fav is leave half your hair up and leave the rest down :)

i have the same exact hair as you. what i do is straighten my hair, then your options are open. you should also try to get your hair thinned out every once in awhile. i also suggest going to a stylist and asking them what are the simplest but cute haristyles you can do with your type of hair.

yes.......my child has mexican and black in her and she has the same type of hair. when she was younger (under 2) i used BABY LOVE. get the whole line of products. they dont have a shampoo and conditioner but they do have the detangler and cream. also u should change the type of comb and brush that u use. make sure u have a wide tooth comb so u wont hurt her and get a wooden brush with soft brisstles. my hair gets that way... its hard to comb it out. i have kind hair. most shampoos and conditioners dont work on it. i found that DOVE and BRECK both work extremely well. Breck also has detanglar that helps also. i'd say wash her hair every other day if not more and brush it out and put it up, when u leave ur hair down it gets tangled quickly. Good luck!

my daughter had really dry wavy hair. I started using this stuff called TCB- it is made for african american hair- made with jojoba and chamomile oil. After washing I use a very very thin coat in her hair and brush it through. I used to have to use it all the time but now her hair is a LOT more maneageable and we only use it a few times a week. You only need a small amount to coat the hair and keep the moisture in and this way it will not be overy greay. It is also a very good product to use for school children- not only does it moisturize and strengthen the hair, it is a great lice repellent as they don't like oil.

I use anti-frizz serum on my daughter's hair after washing, when I comb it out, to protect the ends from drying. Still need to trim pretty regularly (once a month or so) to take off the dried ends as curly hair tends to dry out more easily. There are some inexpensive brands of anti-frizz serum out there, I'm talking about just the clear silicone stuff.

For everyday, keep it in a braided style most of the time rather than in ponytails or just loose, because that will help keep it from tangling when she's playing and sleeping. Plus when you take it out of braids it will have a cute crimped look.

Get some Infusium. It's leave in conditioner and it helps greatly. It's not a detangler, but it will help improve the natural wave or curl that she has. You can find infusium anywhere. What I do is keep it in a small, cheap spray bottle and just spray it all over my hair, comb it through and style as usual. It will help a lot with her hair, especially if it's thick.

sounds good to me. you will need to get a lightening kit and a strawberry blond kit for the ends. bleach it first by the directions and dry it. then put the strawberry on the ends and leave to directions and you'll good to go if your har is already blonde, you wo't need to keep the bleach on ery long. the lighter the hair, the less time. ny hair is med brown and i leae mine on for 20 min to get blonde

That's appropriate to get your ears pierced, but only one hole in each ear. Some teens think the ones with lots of earrings in each ear look trampy. Straightener is good too at that age.

Try the clothes at Hollister's, but not the low cut stuff. That's where the high school girls shop so you will look a little sophisticated. They are owned by the same people who own Abercrombie and Fitch, but the clothes cost less there.

Forget the eye shadow and eye liner at your age. The mascara is okay if your eyelashes are too light to be seen.

I think you are wearing the right amount of make-up for your age. That's about how much I used to wear. Also, I absolutely love my straightener it's just a little pricey. I have the red turbo 2 inch chi. You could look into buying one on e-bay that is brand new and could get it a lot cheaper. That's what I did and I got it for $75 and it was supposed to be almost 200! Also as for earrings, try simple studs or little hoops. That's still what I wear and I've had my ears pierced for a really long time. I hope I helped.

You don't say what your current color is, so it's kind of hard to answer, but IMHO, you could use ponytail ties to rope off the lengths, then apply just below the ties. That should keep it where you want it. No problem if your hair is light, but if it is dark, you might want to use a color that will lighten up your base color, too. Loreal makes one for brunettes, but not sure about any others. Good luck.

I had a rebonding done on January with l'Oreal products and the result is amazing! My hair which were very dry, no longer are, and I use little conditionner. However I always apply a drop of serum on the ends. I use John Frieda.

Any tips or advices on how to take care of rebonded hair?

At first don't tuck it behind your ears or tie it up in a band or where a hat or sunnies on your head. The first couple of days the hair is still "soft" and can easily get kinks but after that use a good shampoo and conditioner which is most important and do your hair as usual every now and again do a treatment but the hair should be fine.

Try different solutions, have others you can trust (no friends, your siblings or parents) judge the better.

Do not listen to your hairdresser; most of them are jeaulous and they want to cut as much as possible, in the best case they treat you as their guinea-pig, they also have a reputation to protect, they will not let you out their door unless it is cut to their satisfaction and not yours. So don't expect them to help any if you don't mind looking a bit ridiculous.

Buy some mousse and gel and try different styles. Try to keep away from hairspray, it looks really bad in long hair and it wont help a hairdo-to-be, if you're in your transition-period. Good luck, it's gonna take a while, but it's worth it.

I took this stuff once called Vitamin B12, B6 with Folic Acid you could order off of infomercials. I used it for about a year. I tried it because I felt tired all the time. It really did help but another benefit of it was, my hair grew %26amp; it grew rather quickly. My hair has ALWAYS grown so slow. The folic acid is what really did it. The thing is, with this vitamin more of it gets into your system than vitamins you buy at the store because these actually dissolve on your tongue. They taste good to. But I'm telling you from my experience this stuff is amazing! The absorbtion of the folic acid is what gets the hair growing. I've included a website for you. eat healthy...veggies,fruit,meat...dont eat sweets like cake, cookies,ice cream, candy, or stuff like sprite,coke,pepsi,dr pepper...(i no they're good!!!lol...)but,its bad on ur hair...%26amp; dont use blow dryers(they dry ur hair %26amp; cause split ends, if u do, put it on cool...),curling irons,or straighteners...the heat is bad on ur hair...dont use rubber bands, or ponytails, they're also bad on ur hair...use a hair vitamin, it will make it grow faster...%26amp; go 2 these sites...
