i'v done it a couple times, and liked the outcome.

im just wondering what other ppl think of it.

i don't cut my whole head of hair but i cut my bangs. i try to keep them 100% straight across. also i try not to cut too much hair because its easier to cut more hair than to let it grow out :D

Whenever I try to do it myself it comes out completely uneven. I had my mom and boyfriend cut it last time and it came out really well, a little uneven but it still looks really good. I suggest having a good friend or family member fix any things you might have missed.

yes I do it to, I have long hair so I just trim the ends, I do it myslef because a few years ago I went to a salon, asked for a trim andshe chopped 3 inches off my hair

I sometimes do a minor trim myself because it seems silly to wait in line to pay somebody $15 to do what takes me 2 minutes to do myself. Plus, I know exactly how much I want off, so there are no surprises. However, about once a year, I pay someobody to cut a couple inches off because I'm afraid I would get it noticeably uneven if I cut that much myself.

Yes, absolutely. It's a wonderful thing if you can do it. I have borrowed books from the public library about haircutting.

The best advice I will give you is to buy a pair of hair shears. Makes all the difference in the world. Don't have to be the high dollar ones either, I think mine were under $20. 10 years ago.

sometimes.. sometimes good and bad turnout.. yeah I cut my ends so I don't have to go the salon every couple weeks.. and I like to try new stuff and sometimes its better because the salon doesn't know what I want.. I once gave myself layers.. figured it out on my own.. or I cut my bangs

Tip: use absolutely sharp scissors. Anything less can *cause* split ends on otherwise healthy-enough hair.

I trim any split ends myself because I can trust myself to not over-cut. If I ever *want* a hair-do that has to grow-out to look better or one that looks fine immediately but like dog feces a month later, I'll trust a hairdresser again.
