It depends... if your hair is long it's bad because your hair will tangle and knot under the cap as it's being pulled through.. it hurts!

You can "cap" short or medium length hair but you can also foil it. How you want the end result should effect your decision more than anything. By using a "cap" you don't have as much control over exactly where those highlights are... when foiling you know EXACTLY where they are placed.

A "cap" with shorter hair tends to look "spotted" sometimes... but foil has placement... so if you can get the highlights where you think would look best for you.. whether it's all over or just in areas to make a statement about who you are! Good Luck!!

I've always found that foils work better when highlighting longer hair. With shorter hair I would use a cap, it hurts less to pull the hair through the holes.

make sure you part your hair the way you always wear it before you put the cap on.....if you want a dramatic affect then go every hole, if you want subtle highlights then use every secong hole.....
